In Adventure Class we believe learning should be fun, interactive and child led. Each Half Term we study a new learning experience. This means that all of our lessons are cross curricular and are always centred around the learning experience of the term. We believe this is the best way for children to learn because it enables them to fully immerse in a topic. We also always have a role play area which is created and changed regularly by the class to go alongside our learning experience. Adventure Class also love to learn outside where we have a sandpit, small world area and growing area. We aim to build children’s confidence and give children a love of learning!
We are learning
States of Matter
This half term we have an exciting, science-based curriculum. We will be exploring all things investigation through a series of 'Big Questions'. We will be making predictions, selecting equipment, carrying out fair tests, and recording and evaluating our results.
Throughout the term, we will building our confidence to carry out independent investigations, thinking about how can can answer a given question, as well as asking questions. We will also be carrying out some cooking activities that will challenge our thinking about changing states and how the particles in some materials can only change state once.
In English, we will be learning about instructional writing. We will build up the grammatical skills and language devices to create our own instructions based on recipes.
Our Jigsaw PHSE scheme this term is based on Dreams and Goals; recognising challenges we may face whilst trying to achieve these, and finding ways to work through an overcome those challenges.
This term we are excited to be taking part in Science Week. We will be taking part in whole-school science challenges, welcome some exciting scientists for engaging workshops and have a chance to explore the worlds beyond our own!
