Welcome to our class, we are all proud to be members of Team Invincible.
The staff who work in our class are Senor Gamez (Teacher), Miss Leydon and Miss Walton (Teaching Assistants). As a team we learn to work collaboratively by solving problems, sharing ideas, supporting each other and having open discussions with the teaching staff. We are developing our knowledge across both Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 curricula in preparation for transition to the next stage in the pupils’ education.
We are fortunate to go on some amazing trips, especially residentials which we are looking forward to. We are also learning to interact with others in fun, educational activities with local schools.
Autumn Term - 2
During this Half Term, our topic is Magic and Muggles based around the first three books of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter. We will be focussing on character profiles and then using our description skills to describe a Setting. We will learn that a setting is the time and place where a scene occurs and that it can help set the mood and influence the way characters behave.
English lessons will focus on the use of headings and sub-headings to organise our thoughts and therefore make our writing clearer to the reader.
In Science, we are investigating materials and how, with a little bit of magic, we can alter their form. We will be comparing and grouping together everyday materials based on their properties, including their hardness. solubility, transparency, conductivity (electrical and thermal), and response to to the invisible force of magnets.
In Art, we are exploring different mediums to create portraits of the characters from Harry Potter. We will be using chalk, charcoal and paint to practice our design techniques and finally, clay to sculpture our finished design.
Social thinking, our focus is on Accepted and Unaccepted behaviour socially. We will be watching segments of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets to explore how the characters interact with each other socially. We will be discussing how they may not always be in control of how situations make them feel, however, how they react is completely in their control.
